Fox Cancels “The OC”

January 5, 2007 · 6 Comments

O.C. Gets CancelledIt’s official …. after months of speculation, Fox Network finally decided to shut down our favorite TV show “THE O.C.” next month.

The series finale will be on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 9pm.  Fox plans to promote the remaining shows by doing a  “countdown” to the finale.

“This feels like the best time to bring the show to its close,” said “The OC” creator and exec producer Josh Schwartz. “For a certain audience, at a certain time, ‘The OC’ has meant something. For that we are grateful.”

Numerous media outlets have been talking about much an impact The O.C. has on our society and to Orange County in general:

“The county’s “OC” nickname didn’t even come into vogue until after the TV show debuted. At one point, a county official even seriously suggested renaming John Wayne Airport “the OC Airport.”

At its height in season one in 2003/2004, “The OC” averaged 9.8 million viewers and a 4.4 rating/11 share in the adults 18-49 demo. So far this season, the show has posted a 1.7/4 in the demo and 3.8 million viewers overall.

Will “The O.C.” be moving to CW network with other shows that were cancelled from similar networks?

We will miss The O.C., keep watching reruns and hope that the real “O.C.” of MTV’s “Laguna Beach” doesn’t get cancelled too.

The O.C. moving to CW?

January 2, 2007 · 6 Comments

CW LogoThe CW Source is reporting that “The O.C.” may move over to competing network CW after this season.  Fox is looking to get rid of the show after a dissappointing 3rd season…but things have been picking up this year.

The OC Blogger thinks this maybe a good move…”it would not be the first time a series has moved from one network to the other and had success, do you remember Buffy The Vampire Slayer, that show moved from the WB to UPN. “  However they also mention that most of the cast may not follow in the move if it does occur “including Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson who have been outspoken about how The OC has run it’s course”

Mischa Barton performs Britney’s song in club

December 9, 2006 · 1 Comment

AHN reports: Mischa recently gave an impromptu performance of Britney Spears’ hit song “Oops!… I Did It Again” at a London nightclub.
The former “O.C.” actress was enjoying an evening out on Tuesday when she decided to treat revelers at the trendy Paper nightclub to some of her singing.

The 20-year-old jumped on stage and launched into the famous song, and even treated clubbers to a sexy dance routine.
One onlooker said, “She got on stage clutching a microphone and a bottle of champagne. She seemed a bit drunk, but her singing was good. She certainly can hold a note.”

Rachel Bilson & Adam Brody Are Over

December 6, 2006 · 50 Comments

Rachel & Adam split

Girlstalkinsmack.com has a blurb – “Life & Style magazine is reporting that on-screen and off-screen couple Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson have decided to split, off-screen. They both star on the Fox show, ‘The O.C.’

While I don’t watch the show, I always thought they were a cute couple, and I’ve liked Adam since I saw him in the ‘Gilmore Girls’ as Lane’s love interest. She seems to pick good projects too, and they don’t seem to be very “Hollywood,” which I like.

The couple began dating in 2004, and were photographed out and about in various places in California since then. Reportedly they ended things a few weeks ago, which explains recent sightings of the two without one another. “

“The O.C.” – Lowest rating ever!

November 20, 2006 · 1 Comment

The first few episodes of this season’s “The O.C.” are the lowest in the T.V. shows history….3.4 million, down from it’s average of 9.7 million.

here is what the blog world has to say about it:

Nashua Telegraph – “Barely into its fourth season, “The O.C.” is hanging on for dear life….Pull the plug.
Besides, creatively, the show is so dead.”

OC Weekly quoted OCblogger.com – ““America please watch Fox so that the ratings go up. It’s a great show even though one of the main characters is gone. So just give its [sic] a chance!””

However, E Online says “Yes, Virginia, The O.C. is worth watching again! “
